Meeting Customer and Stakeholder Needs
ISO 9000 series of standards help organisations meet customer and stakeholder needs, beginning with the creation of a formal quality policy approved by management and closely tied to the organisation’s business and marketing plans. Each employee is expected to follow the policy and work to achieve its objectives. Regular audits evaluate company conformity and plan effectiveness. Systems are created to communicate with customers regarding such issues as product information, contracts, orders, inquiries, feedback, and complaints. Appropriate testing is conducted at each stage for the launch of new products to determine design and regulatory requirements and user needs. Improvements are made as needed, and records are kept of all activities and their effectiveness.
ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Systems Certification
ISO does not certify organisations; rather, accreditation bodies authorise certification bodies to certify organisations to the actual standard, ISO 9001:2008 based upon a fee schedule. Both the accreditation bodies and the certification bodies charge fees for their services. Accredited Certification Bodies (CB) certificates are accepted worldwide. More than one million organisations are independently certified, making ISO 9001 one of the world’s most widely used management tools.
