Upsides to the Global Recession
The Economic Trifecta - High Unemployment, Depressed Housing Market and almost Zero Credit has, in some cases, led to the restoration of our faith in society. Instead of people acting more selfishly as one might expect when times are tough, reports show that we are becoming more aware of our purpose on this fair planet.
People have a much greater desire to "do the right thing". We are embracing green initiatives and volunteerism like there is a tomorrow. People also have the desire to take better care of themselves.
According to a recent report by Packaged Facts, sales of the more expensive organic and pesticide-free foods continue to increase whilst sales of other foods such as canned soups have declined (market leader Campbell's down 7%). 33% of significantly worse off consumers seek organic foods, compared with 26% whose financial situation has stayed the same.
